God created heaven and the earth in seven days, and to celebrate the seventh edition of Incineration Fest on May 7th so too shall we burn it all down! Prepare yourself for a day of epic metal bands that is sure to wreak havoc upon London. Kicking off at noon, four famous London venues will host 20+ bands that will blast your eardrums to a fine powder.

Previous editions of Incineration Fest included the likes of legends; Mayhem, Abbath, Marduk, Taake, God Seed, Sodom and more. This year is no exception as the Kings of Black Metal, Emperor, will be headlining at the Roadhouse. We thought before the festival it would be good to do a quick run-down of the venues and a brief intro of some of the bands playing so you can choose which venue is right for your metal tastes as they will be performing concurrently. While we like our metal like we like our coffee, black, horribly produced, and goes down strong, you may not... Anyways, here are the venues and the bands playing!

The Roundhouse

Situated in rocker utopia Camden, The Roundhouse is a larger venue that used to be a gas house or some crap, but it hosted musical giants like The Doors and Pink Floyd. This doesn’t have the same grunge or underground vibes like the Black Heart, but it has space and is fit for the bands performing. The Roadhouse will feature headliners, Emperor, as well as UK legends Winterfylleth, Sweden’s Bloodbath, and Norway’s Tsjuder.

Winterfylleth

Performing @ 4:45-5:25 pm

We recently did an episode with UK giants, Winterfylleth, featuring vocalist, Chris Naughton and drummer, Simon Lucas, which you can listen to here. They’re an exceptional UKBM band and if you like ancient Anglo-Saxon history, sweeping landscapes and a complex and dynamic metal sound these guys are MUST-LISTEN! Check out Absolved in Fire from their newest album The Reckoning Dawn, and crowd favourite Ensigns of Victory. Here’s to seeing Chris, Simon and the rest of the band live!

Tsjuder

Performing @ 5:50-6:50 pm

Tsjuder will be shattering the walls of The Roundhouse. Near and dear to Chort’s heart is the Satanic, anti-religion/demonic side of Black Metal so he will definitely be praying to the dark lord as Draugluin and Nag take the stage. Here’s hoping these Norwegian demons play Kill for Satan and Mouth of Madness!

Bloodbath

Performing @ 7:30pm-8:30 pm

Not to be confused with the wildly popular Serbian Bloodbath, these Swedes blast blasphemous gore-filled Death Metal! This is proper violent pit music, which will surely kick off while Old Nick shouts away. While we’re expecting Bloodbath to play songs from their 2018 album The Arrow of Satan is Drawn, we hope they also play Brave New Hell and Eaten!

Emperor

Performing @ 9:30pm-10:45 pm

If we have to explain Emperor to you, you’re on the wrong site but here is a link to Metal Archives. Sure they haven’t released new stuff since 2001, but when you created juggernauts like In the Nightside Eclipse and Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk and are associated with the likes of Gorgoroth, Satyricon, Mortiis and Enslaved, who gives a shit?! We’re excited to see Samoth, Ihsahn, and Trym Torson and hopefully they’ll have time to cover as much of their classics as possible.

The Electric Ballroom

Legendary rehearsal room of Led Zeppelin and hosting huge Punk names in the 80’s such as the Sex Pistols, the Electric Ballroom is not as bougie as The Roadhouse and is perfect for the bands set to play. It’s not the largest venue for sure, but it’s still bigger than The Black Heart and it’s got a bar so who are you to expect more? If you’re reading this, you probably don’t deserve more from a venue, let’s be honest.

Akercoke

Performing @ 6:40-7:30 pm

Akercoke have formed a cult following ever since 2007 when they went on the BBC show Nolan Live and told Irish Christian groups, who were trying to prevent them from playing because of their satanic beliefs, to go fuck themselves. These Prog-Blackened Death heathens have some absolutely epic tracks we recommend you check out like Leviathan, Praise The Name of Satan, and Axiom. Don your best suit!

Unleashed

Performing @ 8:15-9:15 pm

If you like Swedish Death Metal you need to be HERE for headliners Unleashed! If you like Norse mythology and Viking shit accompanied by fast beats, death vocals and rhythm these guys won’t disappoint. We’re personally hoping to get in the pit and lash around like wild Pacific tuna to tracks like To Asgard We Fly.

The Electric Ballroom will also feature:

  • Calligram @ 1:45-2:25 pm

  • Noctem @ 2:55-3:55 pm

  • Unfathomable Ruination @ 4:05-4:45 pm

  • October Tide @ 5:15-6:00 pm

The Black Heart

The Black Heart is the home of Trve Black Metal fans. It’s tiny, dark, and off the beaten path. The only way this could be MORE Black Metal is if the floor was drenched in blood, which it may well be on May 7th. This venue may not be the largest but its character is unrivaled and has hosted some of the greatest metal bands and provides arguably some of the best beer in London. We at The Heavy Metal Citadel are frequent visitors. We were even there in April shooting photos of the Gaerea and Wode show, which you can see here.

Lucifer's Child

Performing @ 8:30-9:15 pm

They may only have two LPs but Lucifer’s Child is a brutal Greek black metal band that focuses on Lucifer and the Occult! For all you Rotting Christ fans  who have seen the band live before you may remember guitarist George Emmanuel who has been their live support in the past. Their sound definitely echos that Hellenic sound and their solos are fucking face melting so we’re excited to hear The Order and chant together with the gang vocals.

Mastiff

Performing @ 7:30-8:00 pm

If you’re a Doom/Hardcore kinda person UK-based Mastiff will give you everything you need! With those classic hardcore vocals, beat blasting drums and brutal change-ups these guys will definitely get you stomping your boots and banging your head to the tracks like Bubonic and Repulse.

The Black Heart will also feature:

  • Damnations Hammer @ 1:30-2:00 pm

  • Burial @ 2:30-3:00 pm

  • PIST @ 3:30-4:00 pm

  • Foetal Juice @ 4:30-5:00 pm

  • Nervochaos @ 5:30-6:00 pm

  • The Infernal Sea @ 6:30 - 7:00 pm

The Underworld

Having featured bands like Agalloch, Carpathian Forest, and Anthrax, The Underworld is no stranger to Metal performances. It’s not as large as The Roadhouse but there is still enough room to cram all you mutants in! The Underworld is situated between the Electric Ballroom and The Black Heart so it’s a perfect middle ground.

Regarde les Hommes Tomber

Performing @ 7:30-8:00 pm

French for Watch the Men Fall, these heathens will bring the hoards down to their knees! This Sludge/Post-Black band blends blackened atmospheric ambience with shouting vocals and ritualistic performances on stage. Here’s hoping there is a sacrifice or two as they blast blistering tracks like A New Order and To Take Us!

Hellripper

Performing @ 7:00-7:45 pm

James Fucking McBain is set to take the stage to unleash his unholy creation, Hellripper. It’s everything we love about Blackened Speed Metal, sweeping guitar riffs, a dynamic vocal mix of shouting and screeching and lyrics about Satan, anti-christianity and black magic fuckery! We’re looking forward to hearing All Hail the Goat and Bastard of Hades!

The Underworld will also feature:

  • Shrapnel @ 1:10-1:50 pm

  • Noctule @ 2:00-2:30 pm

  • Blasphemer @ 3:30-4:10 pm

  • Beheaded @ 4:40-5:20 pm

  • Skeletal Remains @ 5:50-6:30 pm

We hope to see some of you at the show and we'll be sure to drunkenly ask you to be a featured voice clip on our upcoming episodes. In the meantime check out some of the artist interviews on our site like the one we had with Mānbryne from Poland or USBM solo-project Blackbraid.

P.S. We’re giving out our idiotic stickers at the show so ask for some and we’ll give em to you if we haven’t already lost them by then.
