Album Review: Dyspläcer - Temple Heights

Konichiwa! You metal slags and black metal enthusiasts! Are you ready for a wild ride into the Shadow Realm with Dyspläcer and their latest album, "Temple Heights”?! IF YOU ARE NOT PREPARED FOR THE SHADOW REALM, STOP READING NOW!…..These ancient metal warriors have honed their skills at the legendary Temple Heights dojo, and they're here to deliver a fusion of New Wave of British Heavy Metal and Power Metal that will leave you breathless.

First things first, let's talk about the album cover. It's an absolute masterpiece, blending Japanese demon masks, a badass bear, elegant flower blossoms, electrifying lightning strikes, and mysterious shadowy figures all in that classic 80s style. Just looking at it gets your blood pumping, and it sets the stage for what awaits you.

"Temple Heights" is a high-octane offering that caters to the tastes of a fat white karate master in his 40s whose struggling dojo is about to go under. But fear not, my friends, because this album is also a treat for fans of NWOBHM and Power Metal. It's like a perfect storm of musical epicness.

The guitar riffs are absolutely delectable, delivering the kind of action hero 80s metal vibes that make you want to jump off a rooftop in slow motion throwing ninja stars as you land on your red Ducati and drive off into the sunset! The latter half of the song "Black Widow" is a prime example of this, showcasing the band's ability to create infectious hooks and captivating melodies.

Now let's talk about vocalist Red Lotus of the Sacred Garden. This guy has some serious pipes. His operatic and clean vocals soar through the air, hitting those high Cs all night long. Just listen to the climax of "Black Widow" and "Temple Heights" to witness his vocal prowess in action. It's enough to give you goosebumps and make you raise your fist in triumphant metal glory.

Kuma Kaiju is another ripper of a song. The guitar work is fucking excellent, nice little tempo change-ups and a hell of a solo that gives you that classic NWOBHM sound. The riff is truly catchy and infections. I will say though the pinnacle for me are “Bloodsport” and “Way of the Ninja”. Both have such catchy riffs at the onset. “Way of the Ninja” also has those excellent gang vocals that get’s you fucking pumped!

In a nutshell, "Temple Heights" is an album that unleashes raw, undeniable power. It's like a fierce martial arts battle mixed with the intensity of NWOBHM and the soaring melodies of Power Metal. This music will make you want to kick ass, bed the ladies, chug beer like a pro, and show off your martial arts skills to anyone foolish enough to doubt your might!

So, my fellow Citadelians, grab your nunchucks, charge up your inner chi, and embark blast some Dyspläcer. Don’t let your wife, work, or mom stop you from unleashing your INNER NINJA!
